Karnataka’s Gombeyata to take center stage at Ayodhya’s Ramotsava

Bagalkote: Karnataka’s age-old Gombeyata (puppetry) on Sitaapaharana has been selected to be performed in the Kannada language at Ayodhya’s Ram Pratishtapana Ramotsava.

Led by Siddu Biradara, a government high school teacher from Chabalageri, Haliyala taluk, Vijayapur district, the Hongiran art troupe has been chosen to showcase the distinctive Karnataka-style puppetry.

The troupe will present a 40-minute Sitaapaharana scenario, a spectacle that stands out with the inclusion of the Kannada language.

The performance boasts lyrics by Dandappa Gowda Patil of Yadgiri and music by Vishwanath Hirematha of Shirsi. Siddu Biradara, the Kannadiga teacher, leads the management, direction, and overall execution of the puppetry.

Siddu Biradara brings 15 years of expertise in puppetry to the table. His dedication to this art form has seen him exhibit across 20 states in India, as well as in Thailand and Nepal.

Officially invited to showcase the puppet show at the Ramotsava program in Ayodhya from January 26th to 29th, Siddu Biradara expresses pride in presenting the art in Kannada across India.
