According to reports, the buffalo was being transported in a lorry when the rope around its neck broke, causing it to escape. Razzak Saab’s son Sadiq (22) of Vijayanagar NH Road attempted to catch the animal but was gored by its horn. Sadiq was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, but could not be saved.

The buffalo continued its rampage, injuring many others in the vicinity. Among the victims was 4-year-old Hairafat, the daughter of a local resident named Mujeeb. The young girl was playing near her house when the buffalo ran over her, knocking out several of her teeth.

In total, 25 people were injured in the buffalo attack and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The buffalo had reportedly been brought to the slaughterhouse by Sadiq and his father Razak Saab from Karnataka to Mogral Puttur.

Kasaragod police have registered a case and are investigating.
