Kasaragod: The NIA team investigating the cooker bomb explosion that took place in Mangaluru city on November 19 is suspecting the involvement of a few people from Kasaragod in the case.
In this background, the team is likely to extend its investigation in Kasaragod. Already the district police have begun their probe in this regard, sources said.
Mohammed Shariq, the accused in the bomb explosion case has been showing signs of recovery and will be subjected to thorough questioning by the NIA team.
Based on their intel, police sources said that Shariq was involved in drug trafficking activities in Kochi and other places in Kerala to raise funds for his nefarious activities.

There were reports that around 10 youths, including women under Kasaragod’s Chandera police jurisdictional limits had travelled to Syria and Afghanistan to join the Islamic State(IS). A few of them were killed and some are in jail in Afghanistan. Others are still at large.
It is suspected that a few of these may be involved in the cooker bomb explosion case.
