Kaup: POCSO case filed against husband, parents for child marriage

Kaup: A POCSO case has been registered in the Kaup police station against a man and parents for underage marriage.

The young woman, a native of Bihar, has filed a complaint against her husband Intiyaz, and her parents Mohammad Tayyab and Zulekha.

The complainant said she was 16 years old when she got married to Intiyaz on June 12, 2022, by her parents. She began living at her husband’s house. She gave birth to a baby girl on April 4, 2023.

The couple, along with the child, moved to Udyavara and lived in a rented house. At this time, the girl became pregnant with her second child.

The matter of child marriage came to light when the pregnant girl was admitted to the hospital in Mangaluru on July 13 for medical treatment.

A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused and the Kaup police are continuing the investigation.
