'Killed her to end her agony', says man after murdering his paralyzed wife

Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a man killed his paralyzed wife by pushing her into the water-filled cellar of a building under construction in Turahalli.

The deceased has been identified as Shivamma (50) and the accused is Shankarappa (60). The couple hailing from Vijayapura was living with their daughter, son, and son-in-law in the under-construction apartment building on 80 Feet Road.

Case details:

Shankarappa and his daughter used to take care of Shivamma who had been confined to her bed for the past two years.

When no one was at home on December 4, Shankarappa accompanied his wife to the building cellar, which was full of water, and pushed her into it.

Shankarappa’s son who had returned after going to a shop nearby saw his father emerge from the cellar. When he inquired about his mother, the accused allegedly informed him that he didn’t know where she was and left the premises.

His son became suspicious and ran to the cellar, only to witness his mother struggling to remain afloat in the water. He immediately asked the locals for help. They then pulled her out of the water and tried to save her, however, she was already dead by then.

Following the incident, the police detained Shankarappa on December 6.

As per reports, when questioned Shankarappa said that he killed his wife to end her agony as he did not want to see her struggle for her life.
