Kodagu records 74.08% voting

Madikeri: 74.08% of voting was recorded within the two Assembly constituencies in Kodagu-Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday April 18th.

Madikeri recorded 76.12% of voting while Virajpet recorded 76.03% of voting. Quick voting began at most of the polling booths from morning itself. At some places, voting caught pace from afternoon onwards.

Scores of voters standing in queues to exercise their right to vote were  witnessed at various polling booths including Madikeri, Onachalu, Galibidu, Shuntikoppa, Garagandur, Madapura, Virajpet, Hattihole, Makkanduru, Murnadu, Virajpet, Arji, Ammatti-Karmadu, Siddapura, Nelyahudikeri, Valnuru, Nanjarayapattana, Kushalnagar, Somavarapete, Guddehosuru, Kambibani, Chettalli and other places.

Rain provided some relief on the voting day on Thursday. Several polling stations also witnessed elderly and specially abled persons arriving to cast their votes. Polling booth was made accessible to them through wheel chairs.

Mittu Changappa casts his vote as first voter for the 28th time

Senior politician and KPCC senior vice-president Bottolanda Mittu Chengappa cast his vote as the first voter during the 28th Lok Sabha election voting held at St Michael School in Madikeri.

It is worth noting that, in the past 27 elections, Mittu Chengappa has been continuously voting as the first voter per election.
