Kome beach: Two youths rescued while one from B'luru drowns

Kundapur: A youth drowned while two others on the verge of drowning were rescued and hospitalized after they were washed away while swimming at Kome beach in Tekkatte here on Friday May 17. The deceased is identified as Sujith (23) while the youths rescued by the locals are Sukruth (30) and Akshay (23). They are currently admitted at a hospital. Apparently, the three youth belonged to a 15-member group from Bengaluru who had come on a visit to the beach after attending a wedding function at Manjeshwar in Kasaragod. The tragedy Although warned the trio from venturing into the water as the water current was strong, the three ignored the warning and waded into the water. Soon the three got washed away. The rescue Seeing the three on the verge of drowning, the locals rushed to their rescue and with great effort managed to rescue Sukruth and Akshay. Sujith had already drowned by the time he was brought ashore. The surviving two were rushed to the hospital in Kundapur and it is learnt that they are in a critical condition. Mahabala Bangera, Santosh, Ganesh Poojary, Nagaraj, Sandeep, Sampath and Raghavendra were the locals who bravely rescued the youths.
