Mangaluru: Allegations have been raised that there was inadequate oversight and lax security measures during the KPSC examination at a center in Mangaluru.

KPSC  held a competitive examination for the recruitment of Accounts Assistant in the State Audit and Accounts Department at various centers on Sunday. However, at the examination center at Government College at Balmatta in the city norms were reportedly flouted, and young children were allegedly employed to inspect candidates at the entrance.

Minor boys were reportedly seen with metal detectors in their hands, checking candidates. It is alleged that examination officials hired 7-8 children without any training to oversee and inspect the entry of candidates to the examination center.

Lapses in compliance?

Despite KPSC directives for the use of mobile jammers, metal detectors, biometric face detection, and body cameras across all examination centers to prevent irregularities such as cheating and electronic device usage, it’s alleged that these instructions weren’t strictly adhered to at the Mangaluru center.

This apparent oversight in deploying necessary security measures has drawn criticism.

District Collector’s Response:

District Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan stated, “There is no clear information about children being used for inspection. The agency overseeing the examination was appointed by KPSC through a tender process. Further clarification on this matter will be sought directly from the concerned agency.”
