K’taka pvt schools threaten to stop online classes for next academic year if demands remain unmet

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Private School Managements, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Co-Ordination Committee (KPMTCC) on Monday threatened to stop all online classes for the 2021-22 academic year if their demands are not fulfilled.

The demands of the committee include financial aid for teaching and non-teaching staff of private schools, compulsory enrollment of students in schools and vaccination for all teaching and non-teaching staff of private schools.

D Shashi Kumar, convener of the Committee said that many teaching and non-teaching staff have lost their lives to the pandemic and some even committed suicide due to financial distress.

Kumar also said that many students have not enrolled for the coming academic year but are attending online classes which is an injustice to the teachers and an economic drawback for the schools.

He demanded that through an order the State government must make it compulsory for parents to enrol students in schools before attending online or offline classes.

The Committee members have also alleged that officials are pressurising schools to promote students in classes 1 to 9 without even undergoing bridge courses.
