Mangaluru: State’s Minister for Cooperation ST Somashekar on Sunday, November 15 said that the Union government has allocated Rs 4,750 crore for Karnataka’s cooperative sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat package.
The minister was speaking at an event organised by the South Canara District Central Co-Operative Bank (SCDCC Bank) here.
The Centre has, through NABARD, also given Rs 1,750 crore to the Cooperative Department, Somashekar added.
Farm loans of upto Rs 15,300 crore will be disbursed to more than 24 lakh farmers in the State through District Central Co-Operative Banks and agricultural credit cooperatives societies. Rs 10,000 crore from the total has already been disbursed, he said.

He further said that the Centre has permitted the Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation Limited to sell generic drugs in the State.
