Life size 3D mosquito sculpture unveiled at MAHE to create awareness on mosquito-related disease

Manipal: To create awareness among the people about diseases like dengue, malaria, etc, spread through mosquitoes, the Department of Community Medicine of KMC Manipal in association with artists Srinath Manipal and Ravi Hirebettu unveiled a life-size 3D mosquito sculpture.

The sculpture was unveiled at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) campus on Tuesday, August 22.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Professor, and HOD of the Department of Community Medicine, KMC Manipal said, “Mosquitoes are a threat to humans. Due to diseases spread through mosquito bites, lakhs of people around the world lose their lives. This 3D sculpture is unveiled to create a sense of awareness on diseases spread by mosquito bites during the rainy season”.
