Congress accused the government of imposing the weekend curfew to “control” its Mekedatu Padayatre and not to stop the spread of Covid in the state.

A tweet in Kannada on the party’s official handle read “5 thousand Covid Cases – Weekend Curfew… When 50 Thousand Covid Cases – Weekend Curfew Returns!… The curfew was enacted not to control the corona, but to control the Padayatre!”

“@BJP4Karnataka has mocked the people for political interest and should seek people’s forgiveness,” the party demanded.

However, night curfew will continue, he added.
