Lineman assaulted without provocation, case filed

Mangaluru: Kankanady police have registered a case of assault against three persons after they assaulted an on-duty lineman at Naguri on Thursday, July 25,

The victim identified as Basavaraj, 45, is a staff person of Kulshekhar MESCOM.

On July 25 morning, MESCOM personnel had removed the fuse of a house in Naguri over non-payment of electricity bill. Later, upon payment of bill by the owner, Basavaraj had gone to the said house during afternoon hours to put the fuse back onto the main panel board.

The house residents however allegedly abused and assaulted him without any provocation.
