'Maa toh Maa hoti Hai": Heartwarming video shows elephant mother saving her drowning calf

A mother’s love knows no bounds or so goes the adage. A video on Twitter is a testament that this saying not only applies to human mothers but also to mothers in the animal kingdom.

IFS officer Susanta Nanda shared the video of an elephant mom chasing after the drowning calf from washing away in the strong water currents.

“Mother saved its kid getting washed away & escorts her to safety sweetly below her legs. Herd waits for them to join. Incredible social bonding in animal world,”  IFS officer captioned the video on Twitter.

 

An elephant herd is seen crossing a stream in the video. One of the calves in the herd struggles to keep its head above the water and appears to be washing away in the string water currents. An adult elephant chases after the distressed calf and gently escorts it to safety. A while later, they both are seen joining the herd.
