Mangaluru: 2 cyclists complete DK to J-K expedition, felicitated

Mangaluru: Cyclists Jagadeesh Kulal (24) and Shrinidhi Shetty (26), successfully completed their 3,500 km cycling expedition, “Saarthakam 2022” starting from Dakshina Kannada district’s Belthangady to Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Gulmarg were felicitated on Wednesday, November 3.

The duo had set for an expedition to create awareness and spread the message of organ donation and environmental conservation.

Both being production officers at Asian Paints in Mysuru, they passed through 10 states, as a part of the outreach activity of a city-based NGO named Centre for Integrated Learning.

The tagline of the expedition was “Life is a gift, pass it on” and “Go green before green goes”.

As per reports of TOI, although both had experience riding through varied terrains, including the high-altitude Himalayan Mountain range, this ride was challenging for them, due to weather conditions.

They said that while passing through Mumbai and Pune, both had experienced very heavy rains and breakdowns, because of the weather.

Their tyres were punctured over 25 times due to extreme conditions.

Kulal said that while pollution levels were high in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana were nice and beautiful with a cool breeze. The extreme riding condition was in Gulmarg with temperatures as low as three degrees Celsius.
