Mangaluru: 27-year-old woman killed in road accident at Nantoor

Mangaluru: A 27-year-old woman lost her life in a road accident at Nantoor on Sunday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Christy Crasta, a resident of Kodikal.

Christy, who worked at a private hospital in Kankanady, was reportedly on her way to Pumpwell on a two-wheeler when the tragic incident took place. Her scooter reportedly skidded near the Nantoor Junction, causing her to fall onto the road. At that moment, a truck carrying fish heading towards Kerala ran over her, with the rear wheel fatally injuring her head.

She died on the spot.

She is survived by her father, mother, and brother. A case has been registered at the Kadri Traffic Police Station.

Sources reveal that Christy was engaged and her wedding was scheduled for the next month. She worked as a speech and hearing trainer at a private institution in the city.

Locals have pointed out that the ongoing development work at the Nantoor Junction, which involves leveling the surrounding hills, has led to loose stones and mud on the roads, increasing the risk of skidding for two-wheelers. They have blamed the authorities for not taking adequate safety measures.
