Mangaluru: Asked to mend his ways, son assaults and injures mother

Mangaluru: A mother was assaulted and injured by her son at Felix Compound of Bolara Batheri Garden on Wednesday late at night.

The injured has been identified as Shantha Rai. The assailant has been identified as Rohit.

Shanta Rai lived with her relatives, Naveen Rai and his wife Shambhavi, at Felix Compound. At around midnight on Wednesday, Rohit barged into the house with a metal object in hand and picked a fight.

According to the complaint, filed by the victim, Rohit tried to grab the neck of Shambhavi and assaulted Naveen who tried to rescue his wife. He also threatened to kill Naveen.

Shantha who tried to stop her son was verbally and physically assaulted. In the melee, Shantha was knocked down and fractured her bone. Shortly, thereafter, Rohit fled from the place.

Shantha, meanwhile, is recuperating at a private hospital. She told police that Rohit had behavioral issues and that he was angry at being told to mend his ways.

A case has been registered at eh Mangaluru South Police Station.
