Mangaluru: BJP held a protest near the Dakshina Kannada district BJP office condemning the move of the Congress government detaining BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka, and several other leaders in Bengaluru who were on their way to attend a protest meeting in Mysuru condemning the Rs 4,000 crore MUDA scandal.

Speaking at the protest, MLA Vedavyas Kamath accused the “corrupt” Congress government of suppressing the opposition’s right to protest. He accused that under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s “authoritarian policies” have created an “undeclared emergency-like situation” in the state.

“Siddaramaiah may suppress the BJP’s protest, but he cannot escape from the scandal,” Kamath said. “Rahul Gandhi, who goes around holding the Constitution and speaking about democracy, protecting the Constitution, and freedom of expression, is nowhere to be seen now. Siddaramaiah is haunted by fear due to his wrongdoings. He should resign immediately and go home,” he demanded.

District president Satish Kumpala, MLA Harish Poonja, former MLA Capt. Ganesh Karnik, former mayor Premananda Shetty, and Nandan Mallya, among others were present.
