Mangaluru: Experts inspect Maravoor bridge; repairs to begin by next month’s end

Mangaluru: Structural experts from Bengaluru inspected the Maravoor bridge on Thursday.

The bridge had developed cracks, which were noticed on June 16, after heavy rains lashed the area on the previous day.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary had said that a decision on whether the bridge is to be repaired or reconstructed will be taken after an assessment by an experts committee.

The experts’ team that visited the bridge on Thursday reportedly stated that the repair works on the bridge can be started within a month.

Already works on building a platform adjacent to the bridge has started. The platform will be used by workers repairing the bridge.
