Addressing the gathering, Angara said, “I express my sincere tribute to all the leaders who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle. We are celebrating the platinum jubilee of our independence and I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. We have an opportunity to improve the sovereignty of this country. We should ask ourselves whether every individual in society experiences true freedom.”
He further said, ” Our wealthy country was weakened by the invaders such as the British and the invasion is also due to our weakness for infighting. However, we must not forget the Amar Sullia battle, which shook the British from Mangaluru to Kodagu between 1835 and 1837. There are also inspiring stories of our heroes such as such as Balgangadhar Tilak, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose, Zhansi Queen Laxmibai, Kittoor queen Chennamma, father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and Ullal Queen Abbakka who fought for the freedom of our country.”
Praising the Union and state governments, Angara said, ” It is not an exaggeration to say that we are blessed to have a leader like Prime Minister Modi during the pandemic. The state government led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also launched several developmental projects. The idea of planting paddy in our district’s barren lands instilled a new spirit in our farmers. Also, according to the dream of PM Modi, people in our district have greatly benefited from employment skills developed by people themselves.”
