Mangaluru: Min Poojary discusses effluent treatment plant at Panchandy

Mangaluru: District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on June 22 stated that an effluent treatment plant at Pachandy at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore will be demanded from the State government.

Speaking at a meeting held at Pilikula Nisarga Dhama over the issue of improperly treated effluent water entering well, ponds and the Maravoor dam, rendering the water unfit for consumption.

Poojary stated that a survey of the extent of the damage done by the existing improperly functioning plant will be conducted by NITK Surathkal.

Dr Santhosh Kumar, deputy commissioner of City Corporation, stated that after the survey report is submitted by NITK Surathkal, work on the new plant will be executed in stages.

Mangaluru mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, Municipal Commissioner Shanadi Ajit Kumar Hegde and other officials were present at the meeting.
