Mangaluru: One sent to judicial custody for threatening police inspector

Mangaluru: The cybercrime station here arrested one person connected to the anti-CAA and NRC agitation who had threatened a city police inspector and sent him to judicial custody.

The incident occurred on the night of December 26, 2019. The arrested Mohammed Shafique (20) along with another 17-year-old had called Inspector Shantaram, verbally abused him and threatened to kill him.

Inspector Shantaram registered a case at the Mangaluru East Police Station. However, looking at the seriousness of the case Commissioner Vikas Kumar Vikas transferred the case to the cybercrime police station.

The cybercrime police officials investigated the case and arrested Shafique on August 30. Additionally, action was also taken against the other 17-year-old accused.
