A press release by the park said that the species include an Asiatic lion, two wolves, two golden jackals, rare knob-billed ducks, and three colored pheasant birds.
The wolves brought to the zoo are an endangered species and are a rare sight in India. A spacious enclosure is being constructed for the wolves with generous donations made by the Reliance Foundation, the officials said.
The animals were exchanged as a part of a program with Rajkot Zoo approved by the Central Zoo Authority. As part of the exchange program, four wild dogs, a leopard, two civet cats, four reticulated pythons, four montane snakes, a wine snake, and a sand snake have been sent to Rajkot from Pilikula Zoo, officials said.
