Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have urged the police to impose a ban on all New Year parties targeting youth. They submitted a memorandum to the police department, raising concerns over such events.

The organizations alleged that drug mafias are actively supplying narcotics to parties in the coastal regions, ruining the lives of many young men and women. Despite repeated appeals to the district administration, police, and government, the issue persists. They claimed a large-scale network is behind the drug trade, with substances being brought from states like Kerala and Goa, raising serious concerns.

The groups further alleged that apart from drugs, young men from Kerala attend these parties and disrupt the lives of local women. VHP’s South Zone Joint Secretary Sharan Pumpwell demanded that public New Year parties be prohibited.

Bajrang Dal activists warned they would take action themselves if the police failed to curb such events. Puneet Attavar, a Bajrang Dal divisional coordinator, emphasized that a “Drug-Free Mangaluru” must go beyond mere slogans and translate into concrete action.

VHP and Bajrang Dal also opposed an event featuring Israeli international DJ Sajanka, scheduled for December 27 at the City Beach in Bolar. The groups alleged that the DJ had previously “mocked Hindu mantras and hymns” in his performances and demanded that the police revoke permission for the event.
