In a press release, VHP divisional secretary Sharan Pumpwell requested the Hindu temples, shrines, and daivastahnas in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasaragod districts to hold special mass prayers on January 11 to invoke “divine punishment” for the culprits.

“The recent events have hurt the faith, beliefs, and sentiments of millions of Hindus. Let us condemn these acts and call on the Gods to prevent such incidents and to punish the wrongdoers with our mass prayers,” the press release said.

It may be recalled that a man was dressed as ‘Koragajja Daiva’ during his wedding celebrations at Kolnadu village, Salethur, Bantwal Taluk.  The video of the incident went viral and drew the ire of many for insulting one of the most revered daiva of Tulunadu.

The incident was condemned by not only the Hindu organizations but several Muslim organizations too urged the concerned officials to take strict action against the culprits.
