Minor girl poisons four of family; sent to remand home

Chitradurga: A 17-year-old girl has been sent to a remand home for allegedly poisoning four members of her family at Gollarahatti of Bharamasagar hobli in Chitradurga district here.

The deceased are identified as Thippa Naik (45), his wife Sudha Bai (40), his mother Gundi Bai (80), and his daughter Ramya (16). The accused’s brother Rahul (19) survived the incident after undergoing medical treatment.

On July 12, 2021, the juvenile had prepared ragi mudde and mixed pesticide in it. Later she served the food to her family while she herself consumed rice and sambar by her sister.

The FSL report, of the food samples and the viscera of the deceased revealed that pesticide was mixed with the dish.

Police registered a case under the IPC on basis of a complaint lodged by Rahul.

The police said that the juvenile felt her parents were discriminating against her and treated her siblings well. This led the girl to think that if she killed them, then nobody would scold her and allegedly mixed pesticide in the ragi mudde that was served during dinner, said a release issued by the Chitradurga police.
