The order was issued by G.C. Chandrashekhar, the State Working President of the party.

N. Prathap Reddy had joined the Congress party ahead of the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Asembly elections and campaigned for the party’s candidate in the Ballari city constituency. Consequently, he sought the Congress ticket for the North-East Graduates Constituency elections. However, the ticket was not granted to him. As a result, he decided to contest as a rebel candidate.

Congress’ order said that N. Prathap Reddy has been expelled from the primary membership of the party for the next six years, based on the orders of the KPCC President. The order also warns that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who supports or campaigns for him.
