M'luru firing probe: Police personnel fail to appear for hearing

Mangaluru: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Belliappa informed Udupi Deputy Commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha that the twelve police personnel called for the hearing on Tuesday, February 25 could not attend the hearing as they were assigned important work. The hearing, being conducted in the Court Hall in the Mini Vidhan Soudha at Hampanakatte, is now being rescheduled to March 4. The DC is conducting a magisterial inquiry into December 19, 2019, Mangaluru violence and the two rioters who died in police firing on that day. 176 police personnel are supposed to appear for the hearing out of which 12 were to appear on Tuesday. The 176 also include the police commissioner of Mangaluru Dr P S Harsha and Deputy Commissioner (Law & Order) Arunangshu Giri. 37 police personnel were on Tuesday issued notice to appear for hearing on March 4.
