M’luru murder at jewellery shop: Police form 7 teams to trace assassin

Mangaluru: Police have formed seven teams to nab the killer of Raghavendra Acharya (55) at a jewellery shop in the city.

Raghavendra Acharya, staff at the jewellery shop, was hacked to death by an unidentified assailant while at work on Friday, February 3.

Police had released the images of the suspect caught on the CCTV cameras, seeking the public’s help in identifying him. In the images, the suspect is seen wearing a facemask to hide his identity and this is posing a challenge to the police.

Cunning assassin

The assassin worked meticulously to evade being caught. After committing the crime, the assassin hailed 2 autorickshaws — First to reach Valencia from Hampanakatte and thereafter to reach Jeppu.

After getting down at Jeppu, the suspect went towards the railway tracks, sources said.

It is surmised that he may have walked along the railway tracks to evade police. Police are now investigating clues to his next steps.
