Thieves broke into two homes located near Alangaru Mahalingeshwara temple on NH 169 on March 19, stealing gold, silverware, and cash with a total value of Rs 10 lakh.
The retired bank officials Ratnakara Jain and his neighbor Dheerendra Hegde had gone to Jain Basadi to offer their morning prayers, along with their families.
The miscreants broke the back door latch of Ratnakara Jain’s house and stole 25 sovereigns of gold and Rs 20,000 in cash. They then proceeded to break open the latch of Dheerendra Hegde’s front door, taking away 20 grams of gold and Rs 60,000 in cash.
Panambur ACP Manoj Kumar visited the crime scene, and Inspector Niranjan Kumar of the Moodbidri police station registered a case.
