Udupi: The vote counting for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency will be conducted at St Cecily’s school at Ajjarakadu in Udupi and 16 strong rooms have been created with 2 rooms each for the 8 Assembly constituencies. The security of the rooms has been prominently given to the women’s wing of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). On Wednesday, CCTV’s were installed, additional doors were added and all final preparations were taken care of.
Three level security
More than 105 CCTV cameras have been installed for the strong rooms. Almost 40 CRPF women’s wing personnel have been positioned near the strong rooms, besides the state reserve forces as well as the district police force is providing security here.
EVM’s from Chikmagalur to reach at dawn?
The voting process will end at 6pm in the evening and even if the officials leave the premises by 6:30pm, those coming from far off polling stations may reach the counting centre only late in the night. The EVM’s from Chikkamagaluru may reach Udupi only late in the night or early at dawn the next day, inform election officials.
Vehicles installed with GPS
For the first time, the vehicles transporting the EVM’s have been tagged with GPS. Election staffs have been provided with necessary equipments through a welfare kit and a medical kit.
The kits contain toothpaste, soap, coconut oil, mosquito retardant paper coil, comb and matchbox. Also, essential medicines have also been provided.
