MoU between MAHE Manipal & Shantanu Shetty Charitable Trust to establish endowment fund to help economically backward patients

Signed the MoU between MAHE Manipal and Shantanu Shetty Charitable Trust to create an endowment fund for economically backward patients in need of medical treatment.

The agreement outlines that the Trust will deposit Rs 25 lakhs for every year for four years, and MAHE will match this amount to create a permanent endowment fund in the name of Shantanu Shetty. This fund will be dedicated to assisting poor patients from villages of Athradi Grama Panchayath, Udupi taluk, who require medical treatment at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

During a special event, a Managing Trustee Mr Somanath Shetty from the Shanthanu Shetty Charitable Trust handed over the first instalment of funds to Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal and Dr. Girdhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE Manipal in the presence of Dr. Ranjan R Pai, Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group and Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE Manipal. Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal, Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of KMC Manipal, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and Mr Sachin Karanth, Deputy Director, PR and Communication were present from MAHE side.

Trustees of Shanthanu Shetty Charitable Trust Mr Jithendra Hegde, Mr Rajaram Hegde, Mr Natraj Hegde, Mr Gopinath Shetty, and Mr Ashwin Kumar Shetty were present. Dr. Girdhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE Manipal and Mr Somanath Shetty from Shanthanu Shetty Charitable Trust officially signed MoU today. During the event, Dr. H S Ballal expressed his appreciation for this initiative. Lt. Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh congratulated the trust for its contribution and highlighted its significance.

Dr. Padmaraj Hegde welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Avinash Shetty provided a briefing about the agreement and its purpose from the Shanthanu Shetty Charitable Trust gave an overview of the endowment fund and its utilization policy. This collaboration showcases the commitment of both MAHE Manipal and the Shanthanu Shetty Charitable Trust to support the healthcare needs of underprivileged individuals in the mentioned region. It’s heartening to see such efforts to make quality medical care accessible to those who need it most.
