Muniyal Udaya Kumar Shetty’s name proposed for Byndoor constituency at BJP meeting

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) core committee meeting in Bengaluru has become the subject of intense interest in Udupi district politics, following a proposal being raised to offer a party ticket to Muniyal Udaya Kumar Shetty.

Udaya Kumar Shetty, who had previously attempted to become a Congress candidate from the Karkala assembly constituency, had distanced himself from the party in recent years. However, his name suddenly popped up on the list of probable Congress aspirants. However, it is said that Congress has decided to field a candidate belonging to the Billava community.

In the meantime, it is said that Udaya Kumar Shetty, who has the influence of some RSS leaders and Mumbai-based businessmen, had put forth a request to BJP’s state president Nalin Kumar Kateel to allow him to contest from the BJP. In this background, Shetty’s name was reportedly proposed for the Byndoor constituency at the BJP meeting by some members.

Whatever the reason behind Shetty’s sudden emergence as a potential candidate, it is clear that his candidacy has injected a new level of excitement into the already lively politics of Udupi district.
