It has been reported that, during the Purapravesha procession held recently, Muslims through Udupi Zilla Muslim Sauhardaka Samithi offered 4,500 packets of buttermilk to the devotees and also participated in the event.
Speaking to a news channel, they said Muslim brethren will also offer horekanike which includes rice, fruits, vegetables, oil, jaggery and other items from Hejamady, Athrady, Bhatkal and Udupi.
They also said that the Muslims from here will organise a ‘gorakshana’ signature campaign to protect cattle. “Cow is creating a tiff between communities, especially when cattle are stolen. Cattle must be protected and, hence, we will be organising a signature campaign on Jan 18 – Parayaya day. We are expecting to collect over 10,000 signatures. We hope to organise several programmes that will promote peace and harmony in the society,” Arif, president, Udupi Zilla Muslim Sauhardaka Samithi said.
