Mysuru: KPCC working president R Dhruvanarayana passes away

Mysuru: In a shocking development, R. Dhruvanarayana, the working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), passed away on Saturday at the age of 62.

According to sources, Dhruvanarayana suffered a heart attack late on Friday night at his residence in the city and was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, he could not be saved and breathed his last on Saturday morning.

Dhruvanarayana had a long and illustrious political career, having entered the political arena by joining the Congress party in 1983. He was elected as an MLA from Santhemarahalli constituency and went on to win from the same constituency in 2004 by a margin of just one vote. He was elected as an MLA from Kollegal constituency in 2008 for the second time and had been elected as MP from Chamarajanagar Constituency twice.

Besides Siddaramaiah, Dhruvanarayana was considered an influential leader in Mysuru. He was also recognized as a prominent representative of the Dalit community in the region, following in the footsteps of Srinivas Prasad.

Despite his health problems, Dhruvanarayana remained actively involved in political activities and was hailed as the best MP. It was reported that he had suffered a heart attack after returning from the Prajadhwani Yatra on Friday.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Ramanagara Prajadhwani Yatra cancelled

In the wake of Dhruvanarayana’s untimely demise, the Ramanagara Prajadhwani Yatra, which was supposed to be held on Saturday, was canceled by KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar. The news of Dhruvanarayana’s death has sent shockwaves through the political fraternity in Karnataka, with many leaders expressing their condolences and paying tribute to his legacy.
