Mysuru: Man impersonates late elder brother for teacher’s job; remanded to judicial custody

Mysuru: A man is facing legal action for impersonating his deceased elder brother to land a teaching job at a government school.

The accused Laxmane Gowda has been remanded to judicial custody after a probe revealed that he had been impersonating his deceased brother Lokesh Gowda for the last 24 years.

A Hunsur-based journalist got a tip-off about Laxmane’s faked identity and began collecting requisite details whereafter he brought the matter to the notice of deputy director of public instruction.

Reportedly, Lokesh had got a job as a government school teacher in 1994-95. He however passed away before resuming duty. Laxmane took advantage of this opportunity and took over his brother’s identity for the sake of the job. Initially, he served as teacher at the school in Muddanahalli village, Periyapatna taluk, and since has worked in other schools as well.

Acting on the journalist’s complaint, authorities directed Laxmane to produce proper and official documents in the case, but he failed to do so. A case was then filed at produce proper and official documents in the case and Laxmane was taken into custody.
