Nanthoor: The bus stop at Nanthoor junction for buses plying towards KPT has been relocated about 25mts ahead along the KPT road and thus the vehicle congestion at the junction will soon witness much required relief.

But since there is no information/direction board installed regarding the change, passengers are now facing much confusion. Therefore it is vital that an information board be installed here. A few service buses and some city buses including the route nos 13G, 14, 15, 44, 47, 62, 65 from Hampankatte, Mangaladevi and Kankanady travel towards KPT via Nanthoor circle. Now the bus stop for all these buses has been relocated to near Adishakti Complex with a new bus stop having been created here.

Even though traffic signals have been newly installed at Nanthoor junction, the buses going towards KPT have a free left passage. Therefore there is no need fpr the buses to stop near Nanthoor junction. Hence, only buses going towards Bikarnakatte are allowed to stop at the bus stop near the junction. Then again, the buses are not permitted to stay there for long and must exit soon after picking up its passengers. Only then will it be possible to improve the transport system, say the traffic police.

Appoint a time keeper

There are time keepers at the bus stop in Nanthoor junction to make sure the buses going towards Bikarnakatte stick to their timings. But there is time keeper for buses going via KPT road.  If a time keeper is appointed it will be easier to give direction for the passengers, bus staff, make sure the buses plying along this route stick to their timings as well as put an end to over speeding, point out the traffic police.

In the backdrop of lack of time keepers, the service of giving direction to the people and bus staff is being done by the workers of the Karavali Shramikara Sangha (a driver – conductor association) since a few days. The police should take determined action against the bus drivers who stop at the junction bus stop, demands the association leader Lohith.

Case; bus seized

Traffic police is taking action against bus driver who instead of stopping their buses at the new bus stand chose to stop them at the junction bus stop for picking and dropping off their passengers. The cases are being booked since almost two weeks, and on Wednesday, four buses were seized.

Cooperation essential

“As the bus stop for the buses going towards KPT has been relocated, now there the density of buses at Nanthoor circle has reduced. This system needs to be carried on. This requires the cooperation of the staff and the public,” said Manjunath Shetty, ACP (Traffic Division)

Will be verified

“Since two years, there has been no time keeper’s facility for the buses plying towards KPT from Nanthoor junction. Will conduct verification regarding its resumption. Besides, as per the earlier plan, the work on relocating the bus stop for the buses going towards Bikarnakatte along the road towards Bikarnakatte from Nanthoor junction, still remains to be done. Then the any premise of bus stopping at the junction will cease to exist,” said Dilraj Alva, President of DK Bus Owners Association.
