Nittur resident offered lift in car, robbed of belongings

Udupi: A 37-year-old man was allegedly beaten up and robbed of his belongings after four men offered him a lift till Santhekatte on October 23 evening.

A resident of Adkadakatte in Nittur, Surendra D. Kundar was waiting for a bus to go to his wife’s home at Nejar at around 7:30 pm when four persons arrived in a white Ertiga car and sought his help to find an address. The men offered to drop him till Santhekatte in their car. An unsuspecting Surendra accepted the lift and got into the car. 

However, the gang did not stop the car at Santhekatte, but rather continued to drive ahead and robbed Surendra of his belongings by overpowering him. An injured Surendra was later thrown off the car on a service road near Sastan Tollgate.

As per reports, the assailants snatched Surendra’s gold chain worth Rs. 30,000, Rs. 3000 cash, and a mobile phone. 

Surendra is undergoing treatment at Ajjarkadu government hospital for his injuries.

Udupi police have registered a case and begun investigation.
