Babu Gowda, a 75-year-old resident of Shantiguri, alleged that he was forced to get off a KSRTC bus on January 6 by the bus conductor.

Gowda had boarded the bus plying from Kallugudde to Uppinangady to reach Kanchana. When the elderly man gave a Rs 200 currency note for the fare, the conductor said he did not have change. Despite Gowda asking the conductor to return the change when he got fare from other passengers, the conductor reportedly ignored his request and made him get off the bus midway at Goliyadka.

Babu Gowda said he felt bad about how he was treated and asked if it was fair.

Meanwhile, the inhuman treatment has evinced angry reactions from the public.  Some said this shows how tough it is in rural areas where there aren’t enough government buses. People want better buses, but no one’s listening. This incident makes people wonder how they can travel if they’re thrown off the bus just because the bus operator did not have change, they said.
