No COMED-K for engineering entrance next year; Fees hiked by 10%

‎Bengaluru: ‎ Karnataka government has decided to cancel the COMED-K examination for admissions to private engineering colleges from the next academic year.‎

The decision was taken at a meeting ‎chaired by Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan with the private engineering colleges on Wednesday.‎

In a series of tweets, the minister said that the college administrations have agreed to admit students on the basis of the Common Entrance Exam (CET) conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority. “An agreement will be signed to this effect soon,” he said.

He also said that approval has been granted for hiking fees by 10 percent as against the demand of a 25 percent hike. This was based on the recommendations of the committee for fixing college fees, he said.
