Noble gesture: Lecturer saves man's life who suffered heart attack at Railway station

Bantwal: A female lecturer has received people’s appreciation after she saved the life of a man who suffered a heart attack at a Railway station here

The lecturer in question is Hemavathi, a resident of Bantwal.

The incident took place a few days back when Hemavathi was at the railway station to catch a train to Bengaluru.

When the train came one of her co-passenger collapsed on the platform after undergoing a heart attack. Hemavathi who was next to him soon came to his rescue and asked other passengers to help her, as the train was about to leave no one came to help her.

However, Hemavathi took the patient in a rickshaw to a nearby hospital, where he received first-aid treatment. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment.

Hemavathi who was supposed to travel to Bengaluru to her daughter’s house took a bus the next day as he had missed her train.

After learning about the incident Cardiologist Dr. Padnamabha Kamath praised Hemavathi for her selfless service.
