Noted Kannada poet, critic K V Thirumalesh no more

Noted veteran poet and literary critic K V Thirumalesh breathed his last in Hyderabad on Monday, January 30 sources close to the family said. He was 80.

Thirumalesh, a native of Karadka in Kasaragod had served as a professor at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages in Hyderabad. Upon his retirement, he worked in Yemen teaching English. He had spent his retirement life at his residence in Hyderabad.

K.V.Thirumalesh hails from Karadka in Kasargod. KV was born on September 1940, 12 in Karadka. Thirumalesh worked in the field of poetry, story, criticism and translation for nearly five decades.

Mukhavada, Akshaya Kavya, Arabic and Vatara are some of his famous works. For his exceptional literary work, Thirumalesh had received many prestigious awards. Akshaya Kavya, a collection of poems in Kannada, earned him the prestigious Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award.
