Over Rs 500 Cr business during Mysuru Dasara!

Mysuru: This year’s world-famous Mysuru Dasara festival drew over 16 lakh tourists, setting a historic record for the city. It is estimated that the economic transactions crossed Rs 500 crore, making it one of the most successful editions of the grand festival.

Starting with the grand Chamundi Hill Agra Puja on October 3rd and culminating in the spectacular Jumbo Savari procession led by Abhimanyu on October 12th, the event attracted tourists not only from various parts of Karnataka but also from across the country and abroad. This influx of visitors has revitalized the tourism sector in the district.

Majority from Karnataka

An estimated 80% of the visitors hailed from various districts across the state, while 20% were from outside Karnataka and foreign countries. Between October 3rd and 8th, approximately 6 lakh tourists visited Mysuru, followed by an influx of 10 lakh tourists from October 9th to 13th. This led to an unprecedented total of 16 lakh visitors, marking a significant milestone in Dasara’s history.

Economic Boom: Over Rs 500 Crore

The large number of tourists resulted in a boost to various sectors such as transport, hospitality, tourism centers, and commerce. The total transactions in these areas are estimated to have surpassed Rs 500 crore, with the hotel industry alone accounting for Rs 110 crore in transactions.
