Pall of gloom descends wedding ceremony after bride's father collapses on stage

Thiruvananthapuram: A pall of gloom descended over a wedding ceremony after the bride’s father died of a cardiac arrest while singing a song for his daughter on Saturday, May 25.

The deceased, Vishnuprasad (55), a sub-inspector at Karamana police station in Thiruvananthapuram had taken to the stage to sing ‘Raakili Ponmagale’, a song from Mammootty-starrer ‘Amaram’ for his daughter when he suddenly collapsed on the stage.

He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

A video of Vishnuprasad singing at the pre-wedding event before the tragic turn of event has been going viral on social media.

The wedding however went as scheduled on Sunday as family member kept the news of Vishnuprasad’s death a secret from his daughter. She was informed about his demise on Monday morning on the day of his cremation.
