Panjimogaru youth murder case; police arrest three

Kavoor:  Three persons accused of involvement in the murder of youth identified as Rakesh from Panjimogaru which took place within Kavoor police station limits have been arrested by the city crime branch (CCB) police.

The arrested have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Kauti (26), Praveen Poojary alias Chotu (23), resident of Kodical 6^th cross and Preetam alias Abhi (22) from Urwa Store Sunkadakatte Kalbavi. The accused were friends of Rakesh. According to the police, the trio were directly involved in the murder and have been handed over to Kavoor police station, stated CCB police.

The murder

The victim Rakesh is from Urundadibail in Panjimogaru had been hacked to death with a sword at Maladi near Panjimogaru on the night of January 3. Praveen Poojary, Sunil Kumar, and another were accused of committing this murder in a complaint filed with the Kavoor police.

The accused Sunil Kumar is already facing two cases of assault in Urwa police station. He has also been arrested on the allegation of planning to murder businessmen for failure to pay protection money at the instance of underworld fugitive, Kali Yogesh, who is currently hiding abroad, in 2014. Sunil had been booked under the provisions of Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act.

The other accused Praveen Poojary had faced a case of robbery in Kadri police station and murder attempt case in the city (south) police station. He was also booked for ganja trafficking by the personnel of Alanahalli police station in Mysuru.

Two cases of assault and a case relating to ganja trafficking is being faced by Preetham at Urwa police station.
