Pilikula zoo: Tigress Rani, wild dog give birth to new offspring during lockdown

Mangaluru: The zoo at the Pilikula Nisargadhama has been closed since the imposition of the lockdown.

In seclusion, the animals at the zoo had time to breed new offsprings and most of them are at different stages of their parenthood.

Tigress ‘Rani’ has given birth to 3 cubs. All of them are yet to open their eyes.

In 2019, Rani had given birth to 5 cubs and with the three new addition, the tiger population in Pilikula has increased to 13.

A dhole, or wild dogs indigenous to India, at the zoo, has given birth to 7 pups raising their total to 33.

A reticulated python in the zoo had laid 20 eggs and is incubating them. The snake was impregnated artificially.
