Kottigehara: The police called off the search for the body of a man believed to be dumped in the Charmadi Ghat after being murdered.

As was the case for the past 3 days, the search for the mortal remains of H Sharath continued on Thursday. However, the body was nowhere to be found. It was decided to abandon the search for the time being and the police returned to Bengaluru with the accused.

The recovery of the body is being delayed as the accused in the case failed to accurately identify the spot where they had dumped the body.

For three days, the Cubbon Park and Ashoknagar Police, along with the help from local social workers and journalists, combed the forest area next to the Charmadi ghat Highway from Annppa Swamy temple and Somanakadu area for the gunny bag in which the accused had dumped the body in. Thereafter the search was called off.

ACP Rajendra of Cubbon Park Police Station and the police team thanked the locals for their cooperation.

It may be recalled that police had cracked the disappearance of H Sharath after nearly nine months after he was abducted and murdered over a monetary issue based on an anonymous tip-off. Cubbon park police arrested five persons –H G Venkatachalapathi, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike state president, his son A V Sharath Kumar, and their associates Dhanush K and Sridhar R, both from Chikkaballapura, and M P Manjunath, of Yelahanka.

Police had said, the victim H Sharat, 27, was abducted by the accused on March 23 and taken to a farmhouse in Gauribidanur where he was allegedly tortured for six days eventually causing his death. Later the accused stuffed his body in a sack and dumped it in the forested area at Charmadi Ghat.
