Priestess from Mysuru guides virtual housewarming ceremony in Australia

Mysuru: Remote paurohitya using online platforms are becoming popular among people in the time of the pandemic, the latest instance involved a housewarming ceremony in another continent.

Mysuru resident Bramaramba Maheshwari, who has the distinction of being the first woman priestess in the country, guided a housewarming ceremony in Melbourne, Australia from 6 am and 8.45 am on Sunday using Google Meet.

Deepti Sriram, a software engineer was a student of online Veda classes conducted by Maheshwari for the last two years and wanted her guru to perform the housewarming ceremony.

Due to travel restrictions, Maheshwari was unable to visit Australia, therefore they decided to use technology.

Three days prior to the ceremony, Maheshwari guided the family about the entire ceremony and keeping different items in different places, etc. On Sunday, she joined the family from Mysuru via Google Meet. Deepti’s relatives also joined from Bengaluru.

Maheshwari guided the Deepti Sriram couple from here. From Rakshoghna homa, to Lakshmi puja, muttaide puja etc, were all performed according to hymns.

Deepti even transferred the Dakshina amount online as it is also an integral part of the ceremony.

Maheshwari, started learning pourahithya in 1988 and conducts online classes on Vedas and other matters for her disciples in different batches.
