PSI exam scam: CID summons toppers for questioning

Bengaluru / Kalaburagi: After causing a political row, the irregularities in the Police Sub-Inspector exam have now begun to rattle the exam toppers.

CID police have reportedly issued notices to the top 50 candidates who had passed the examination to appear for an investigation.

The candidates have been asked to appear at CID’s Bengaluru office along with the carbon copy of the OMR answer sheet. The questioning will begin at 10 am on Wednesday in the presence of DySP Narasimha Murthy, senior police officials said.

As many as 545 candidates were selected as PSI through the recruitment exam held on October 3, 2021.

The government had handed over the investigation into the irregularities to CID as soon as the allegations surfaced. the CID sleuths conducted raids at the house of BJP leader Divya Hagaragi in Kalaburagi and detained her husband for questioning.

Meanwhile, Divya Hagaragi is still absconding and a manhunt has been launched for tracing her whereabouts. The search is on for the arrest of other accused in the case too. Sources said that the principal of the college, owned by Divya Hagaragi, is also missing. An engineer in the irrigation department, who is said to be the mastermind behind the scam, is also absconding, sources added.
