Pvt school teachers to be lifetime members of State welfare fund, says Min Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has announced lifelong membership of the State teachers’ welfare fund to private school teachers.

The announcement was made in a meeting between the minister and representatives from Registered Unaided Private School Management Association (RUPSA) and other teachers unions.

The meeting was also attended by Legislative Council chairman Basavaraj Horatti and Council member Shrikantegowda.

RUPSA president Lokesh Talikatte later said, “the Minister of Education has promised to meet our demands by March 31. In the meeting, the issue of 30 per cent fee reduction and parents not paying fees for online classes was also discussed. The minister also agreed to release an instalment of funds under RTE. If our demands are not met before March 31 then protests will have to be organised again.”

Minister Suresh Kumar said, “The issue of school registration and school building renovation is a big problem. A committee has been formed for this purpose and steps have been taken to simplify it. All teachers union and school management associations have been requested not to strike and protest until the SSLC examinations are completed. They have agreed to this.”
